International Students
International and Marketing Department of Stevens College of Technology and Management provides services to the international
students. The department supports the international students before their arrival in the
UK and during studies related to their admission, accommodation, airport pick up,
transport and visa and immigration advices.
Student Support
Bank Accounts
It may take one to two weeks to open a UK Bank account. It is advised to the international students to
hold sufficient amount of cash to cover their living expenses for the minimum of two weeks.
It is also advisable that students should carry travelers’ cheque or bank draft to pay the tuition
fees or other major expenses.
Council Tax
The council tax is charged by local authorities to help pay for the services they provide,
such as emergency services, rubbish collection and street cleaning.
Nearly all full time College students are exempt from paying council tax.
If you live or share your accommodation with the persons who are not full time students you may have to
pay the tax.
Food
As the college campus is located in a multicultural area you will have access to different
types of food of your choice. The food shops and grocery businesses are aware of eating habit
of people of different religions.
Admissions
Students who are non European Union nationals are eligible to apply for full time courses only.
Students may apply directly by filling on-line application or by filling the paper based application form
with necessary documents and by sending it to the College Address in the UK.
Registration
Students who are intending to apply for a course at Stevens College must register with the
College and the awarding body of their courses.
Offering a place
After necessary assessment of the applications along with the supporting documents students
are offered a place to study in the institution.
Enrolment
Upon arrival at the College, students are required to enroll with the College for their courses.
Receive acceptance documentation
If your application is successful the College will send you an International Admission Document
(offer letter)/CAS confirming your acceptance for the course and itemising the cost of tuition fees and
living expenses.
If you have quoted the name and address of a UK sponsor on your application your sponsor
will automatically receive copies of your International Admission Document and an invitation
to visit the College.
Pay tuition fees
Once you have received your acceptance documentation you can start making arrangements for your
tuition fees to be sent to the College. If you are paying your fees from overseas you should ask
your bank to issue a Bankers Draft made payable to Stevens College of Technology &
Management which you should send to us by courier or registered post.
If your fees are to be paid by a sponsor in the United Kingdom you should ask your sponsor to telephone
the College to arrange an appointment to see a course advisors.
Receive Visa Application Document and Overseas Arrival Pack
When your tuition fees have been paid, the College will send you your Visa Application Document/CAS,
which you will be required to present to the British immigration authorities when you applying for
visa and when you arrive in London.
Obtain Student Visa (if required)
Applicants from some countries are required to obtain a Visa from their local British Embassy or High
Commission prior to travelling to London. This may involve an interview with an Entry Clearance Officer
who will want to see:
- Your Passport
- Your academic qualifications + IELTS
- Your International Admission Document
- Your Visa Application Document (showing tuition fees paid)
- Evidence that you have access to the necessary living expenses
Notify College of flight details and accommodation requirements
The College is able to arrange accommodation for you.
Most first year students live in hostel type accommodation costing between £75 and £110 per week
(full board - except lunch weekdays) depending on location and facilities. It is important, however,
that you notify us in advance of your accommodation needs, together with your flight details,
so we can make the necessary arrangements.
